1. How to enter the prize draw Entry in the prize draw associated with this study is contingent on two conditions. Firstly, the participant must participate in the first session (Session 1) of the research project, Hurt Feelings Across Three Time Periods. In order to participate in this project, participants need to visit the online questionnaire that forms the methodology for the Hurt Feelings Across Three Time Periods study, Session 1. This online questionnaire is located at https://anupsych.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_2o5fNaRD3QBfmg4, and opens with an information section which contains a set of instructions at the beginning on how to participate. Participants need to read and follow these instructions carefully. This link is located on the main page of this website (www.hurtlab.com) with clear instructions that this link needs to be followed in order to reach the questionnaire and participate in this study. Advertising for this study directs participants to visit www.hurtlab.com, and explains that this page needs to be visited in order to participate. Secondly, participants will be asked at the third question contained within the information section whether they wish to participate in the Hurt Feelings Across Three Time Periods study, Session 2. Whether participants answer yes or no at this question, they will be given the opportunity to enter the prize draw for the Hurt Feelings Across Three Time Periods study, Session 1. In order to do so, participants must enter a valid email address in the indicated space. The entrant must ensure that this email address is valid at the time of the prize draw (Sunday, July 31st 2011). 2. Start and closing dates of the prize draw Entries for this lottery will be accepted from Tuesday, March 29th 2011 until Friday, July 15th 2011 inclusive. 3. Time, date and location of the prize draw The prize draw will take place at 12.00pm GMT+10 (Canberra time) on Sunday, July 31st 2011. The prize will be drawn at the Department of Psychology, Bldg 39, The Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, 0200. The prize draw will be conducted in the following manner: a. All email addresses provided by entrants will be assigned a non-identifying number (1, 2, 3...). These numbers and email addresses will be stored in a separate location to the data provided on the questionnaires. b. At the time of the prize draw, a person uninvolved in the study will be asked to use an automated random number generator in order to pick a number from those assigned to tne entrants. c. The first number given by the random number generator will be the winning number. 4. Full prize details and value One prize is being offered in the Hurt Feelings Across Relationships Session 1 prize draw. This prize is a voucher for the online retailer, Amazon.com (www.amazon.com) valued at AU$50 (50 Australian dollars). Participating in the Session 1 questionnaire and the provision of an email address that will be valid at the time of the prize draw will entitle each entrant an equal chance of winning this voucher. As Amazon.com allocates its vouchers in US dollars, and the prize is being offered in Australian dollars, the currency conversion website XE.com will be used to determine the equivalent amount to AU$50 in US dollars and purchase a gift voucher for this amount. Please see here for the full terms and conditions of the Amazon.com vouchers. Please be aware that Amazon.com sets limitations on the items it can ship to countries outside of the US. 5. Manner of notifying the winner of the prize draw The email address provided by the winning entrant will be used to notify them that they have won the prize draw. The winning entrant will be chosen using the method detailed in section 3 above. Once the winning entrant has been selected, the following method of contacting them will be used: a. The winning number number will be given to Ms. Jodie Burchell by the individual who contacted the random drawing. Ms. Burchell will use the file containing the entrant numbers and email addresses to locate the winning entrant's contact details. b. Ms. Burchell will email the winning entrant before 5.00pm GMT+10 on the day of the draw to inform them that they are the winner of the prize draw. Please note that an email will be sent informing the winning entrant that they have won, and asking them to confirm their email address, before the Amazon.com voucher is sent. c. Once the email address has been confirmed by the winning entrant as valid, Ms. Burchell will use the email option for purchasing Amazon.com gift vouchers and the winning entrant's email address to purchase the gift voucher (see here for more details). 6. Conditions of redrawing the lottery If the winner drawn on Sunday July 31st, 2011 does not confirm their email address within a three month period, a redraw for this prize will be conducted. This prize draw will be conducted at 12.00pm GMT+10 (Canberra time) on Monday October 31st, 2011. The prize will be redrawn at the Department of Psychology, Bldg 39, The Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, 0200. The prize redraw will be conducted in the following manner: a. All email addresses provided by entrants will be assigned a non-identifying number (1, 2, 3...). These numbers and email addresses will be stored in a separate location to the data provided on the questionnaires. The email address for the previous winner, who we were unable to contact, will be removed from this pool. b. At the time of the prize redraw, a person uninvolved in the study will be asked to use an automated random number generator in order to pick a number from those assigned to tne entrants. c. The first number given by the random number generator will be the winning number of the redraw. As with the first prize draw, the email address provided by the winning entrant will be used to notify them that they have won the prize redraw. Once the winning entrant has been selected, the following method of contacting them will be used: a. The winning number number will be given to Ms. Jodie Burchell by the individual who contacted the random drawing. Ms. Burchell will use the file containing the entrant numbers and email addresses to locate the winning entrant's contact details. b. Ms. Burchell will email the winning entrant before 5.00pm GMT+10 on the day of the redraw to inform them that they are the winner of the prize redraw. In the unlikely event that both the first prize winner and the redraw prize winner are unable to confirm their email addresses and claim their prize, subsequent redraws will be conducted in an identical manner to that detailed above in this section. These redraws will take place no sooner than 3 months after the previous redraw (i.e., the second redraw will take place on 12pm GMT+10 on Tuesday 31st January, 2012, the third would take place on Tuesday May 1st, 2012, etc.). These draws will take place until a winner who is able to claim the prize can be found. 7.
