Meeting me for the study This study will operate from the ANU Department of Psychology, so participants must be able to physically come to this location to complete this study. The Department of Psychology has 3 main entrances: the North Entrance located in the middle of the building facing University Avenue, and two entrances on the opposite side of the building (one directly opposite the North Entrance, and one at the far end of the building nearest Daley Road). There is also a lift opposite the North Entrance for the use of mobility limited participants who are unable to use the stairs. The easiest place to meet for those not familiar with the Department of Psychology is the North Entrance, facing University Avenue. This has been marked on Map 1 below as the point where the dotted maroon line on the left ends. I will confirm the meeting place when we email to arrange the time to complete the study. Getting to the Department of Psychology The address of the Department of Psychology is: Building 39, The Australian National University, Canberra, ACT, 0200. The Department of Psychology (in pink) and some nearby landmarks are shown in Google maps below: The ANU is located in Acton, the suburb adjacent to Civic. ANU is a large campus, and the Department of Psychology is located at the end of the campus furthest from Civic. Depending on how you plan to get to the Department (walking/riding a bike, catching a bus or driving), details on how to arrive are below. Walking and riding It takes between 15 to 30 minutes to walk to the Department of Psychology from Civic. Riding a bike takes about 10 minutes from Civic, and there are bike racks provided outside of the Department of Psychology to leave your bike. It is highly recommended that you bring a strong bike lock to lock up your bike, as thefts have been reported on campus. Please also make sure you wear your helmet, as police frequently monitor helmet use on campus and will fine you if you are not wearing one. See map 1 below for details on how to reach the Department of Psychology through the ANU campus. Catching a bus The Department of Psychology is close to two Action bus routes. One of these is the 3/934 (week/weekend) which runs through campus, and the other is the Intertown which runs down Barry Drive. The 3/934 stops about 2 minutes away from the Department of Psychology, but runs infrequently, especially on the weekends. It takes about 20 minutes from Civic to reach the Department of Psychology on the 3/934 (click here for the weekday timetable and here for the weekend timetable). The Intertown stops about 5 minutes walk from the Department of Psychology, and runs very frequently. It takes about 5 minutes from Civic and 20 minutes from Belconnen to reach the Department of Psychology on the Intertown (click here for the weekday timetable and here for the weekend timetable). See map 1 below for more details on the routes and where they stop relative to the Department of Psychology. Driving Parking during the weekday, especially in the mornings, is becoming increasingly limited on campus. It is therefore recommended that if you must drive to get to this study, that you either make a time outside of business hours or on the weekend, or plan to park off campus. ANU does offer a small number of parking spaces for visitors, but these, like the rest of the spaces, are not usually available during business hours. ANU provides pay parking and free time-limited parking for visitors. See ANU Parking and Transport for more details. Map 2 has also been sourced from ANU Parking and Transport, showing the pay, time-limited and off-campus visitor parking. ANU is staffed by quite a few parking inspectors, so make sure you follow all the directions on where you can park lest you end up with a fine! Please note, in terms of judging time to walk from your car to the Department of Psychology, that it takes approximately 5 minutes to walk from the Union to the Department, and 10 minutes to walk from UniLodge. |
