PhD Study Two‎ > ‎

How to Participate

Are you a woman who is aged 18 and over?

Are you currently involved in a romantic relationship?

Do you currently live in or can travel to Canberra, and would you like to receive a free movie ticket*
for participating in a study
?

I'm looking for participants who meet the above criteria for my next study. This study is examining the connection between a number of relationship and other variables and hurt feelings.  The study will involve a number of questionnaires about your attitudes and behaviours in relationships, as well as a number of decision making tasks. This study is an extension of the findings from my first study.

The study is being held at the Department of Psychology in the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia, so participants must be willing and able to travel to this location to take part in the study. The study (not including travel time) takes on average 45 minutes to complete, however, participants have taken between 30 to 90 minutes to complete it. Participants will be eligible to receive a single adult movie ticket to either Dendy cinemas in Civic, or Hoyts in Belconnen or Woden. Students currently enrolled in PSYC1004 at the ANU will have a choice of a movie ticket or 60 minutes research participation credit.

* Please note that the Hoyts tickets cannot be used after 5pm on Saturday. However, the Dendy tickets are valid for any regular movie session. Apologies in advance!

Great! How do I participate?

1. Work out a time that you can attend the study. Please leave an hour and a half (90 minutes) free to complete the study. Business hours are preferred, but I can accommodate times outside of this. Testing will begin on the 20th of September, 2010 and will likely run until October 2011.
2. Check the calendar below - the times I am not available for testing are marked. I am around Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, but the lab used for testing is shared between three researchers, so please be aware not all times free on the calendar may be available.
3. Email me at jodie.burchell@anu.edu.au to arrange a time.
4. Read the instructions on how to get to the study location.
5. You will receive a reminder email the day before or the day you are to complete the study to confirm that you can make the arranged time.
6. Attend your session, receive your movie ticket, and feel great about furthering research into emotions!

I still have some questions!

Please check the Frequently Asked Questions page to see if the answer to your question is there. If not, please email or call me.
